The map shows the percentages of female ambassadors of all ambassadors posted each year (main postings).

In this tool, we only present data for country-years when we were able to gender code at least 75% of the diplomats.

Please note that many countries have changed names and/or borders over the years. The map used is the same over time, based on the current map of countries in the world. When a country has transformed geographically to such a degree that it is considered a different country, only its most current form will show up in the map. Please see line plot for data on historical versions of this country.
